I've decided to write an essay of sorts... [livejournal.com profile] tgicountryboy gave me the idea for the topic.

So, here I go:

Heaven: Past, Present and Future.

Isn't it wonderful that the average lifespan in America is 70 years old? In the middle ages people were expected to live much shorter lives, but as time progressed we soon discovered ways of living and eating that would extend our years... Yet for all this research we've done, there is not one shred of evidence that we will ever reach the point where we won't pass away from this physical world. Why is it that all our technology still is not able to fool 'Mother' Nature?
Of course, if I were an atheist, I would still be wondering about that... But I am a christian, and I know that death is a direct result of Sin. Our Ancestors (the ones with no belly buttons), Adam and Eve, sinned. They disobeyed The Creator's only command to them, and ate of the forbidden fruit.
Now, if i were a scientist, I would be wondering what kind of extraordinary chemical this fruit had in it that would cause all the life around them, to all the sudden be temporary, destined to die... But I'm only 15, and terrible a science. The point is, they did eventually die, after living for.. about 900 years!
And that, my friend (or random anonymous person, whatever applies), is called entropy, it's why we require technology to survive so long.. (well, it's not that long, compared to Methuselah's 969 years) it's why there are so many genetic mutations, and it's another side-effect of sin.

So now (finally!)comes the obvious question: What about Heaven? ...Why can't we just stay on earth? Where is Heaven? What will we do there? What about before Jesus died? did people just all go to hell?

Heaven is.. a touchy subject. i've never really understood completely about it, but.. I guess this is why I'm writing about it, to help me 'flesh out' my idea of it (and make sure it fits with what the scripture says)

But now you are probably wondering "ok.. but what's with the title??" Well, that's at least one thing i know about heaven. There are 3 versions.. And one of them isn't even Heaven at all, but something more associated with the Roman catholic's 'purgatory'.. I'll get to that in my next entry.
The present heaven is perfect in every respect, which means it is probably in a 'seperate dimension', because it does have time, which leads me to believe that it is in this universe.
The last, (but certainly NOT least) is situated in the Forever, the Unlimited, the Everlasting... This heaven will not have Time, because God is not limited by Time. This heaven will only become home after our current Heaven and Earth have been destroyed.

k, done with this now... next essay/entry: Abraham's Bosom (Luke 16:19-31)
