My whole world is changing...

News which requires a background, though... because I don't think people will properly understand my excitement without an explanation... because I'm just weird like that.
I grew up listening to DC Talk and Newsboys... these bands have since become ingrained in my psyche and stand near the center of my personal musical preferences. In other words, I would listen to DC Talk or Newsboys on any day, in any mood... even if I had a headache or suddenly contracted a rare allergy to sound (man, that would hurt).
When DC Talk split up, I was heartbroken... but I had one glimmer of hope: they were all starting solo projects. I didn't care for K-Max, and I wasn't a fan of Tobymac's solo project* in the beginning, but I instantly fell in love with Tait. Empty was the first CD I ever bought! I was so obsessed with getting Lose this Life that I listened to the radio religiously until I won it! Tait is like brain music for me. If I was sent to a desert island and allowed only one CD,** I would choose Lose This Life. In fact, a few semesters ago, I popped Lose This Life into my car's CD Player and didn't take it out for almost four months! That's how much I listened to it. I don't know many Tait fans aside from my sister... but there's just something about Tait that gets to my very soul.
The Newsboys are a slightly different story. This band has always been on the radio. Always. I never did get any of their CDs until a few years ago, because I could turn on the radio whenever I felt like it, and my sisters and friends had Newsboys CDs that they played in the car all the time. I loved Shine: The Greatest Hits, but I also love their lesser known songs like "Break," which is so heartfelt and beautiful it makes me cry sometimes. I love how the Australian lilt in their voices comes out so subtly and then so obviously.
So there's the background.
Now here's what I heard a few days ago: Michael Tait is joining Newsboys as their lead singer!
This is amazing news... and a little surreal. I love Micheal Tait's singing voice, but wow... wow! And I know he's gonna be amazing--I mean, he actually does sound quite a lot like Peter Furler, if you compare the--how shall I put it--texture of their singing voices.
This brings up some questions, though. What about the Tait Band? What about Loveology?
Honestly, though... even if the band has gone and Loveology hasn't a chance... I'm still SO HAPPY for Micheal Tait! This is just awesome!
On an amusing note, Micheal seems to be wearing the same hat on the newsboys photo-op that he's wearing on his myspace page. As a fellow hat person, methinks that he really REALLY likes that hat! I must say, it is quite adorable!
